Digital Pen Offered for Intel CMPC 2nd Generation
4  October 2008

*PRESS RELEASE*

EPOS Wired Digital Pen Offered for Second Generation Intel-Powered Classmate PC

San Francisco, CA  – October 2, 2008 –   EPOS, a leader in advanced digital positioning technology for the consumer electronics market, today announced that the company’s low-cost, multi-purpose Wired Digital Pen is now available for use with the second generation Intel-powered classmate PC.  This affordable mobile personal learning device was uniquely designed to enhance the educational experience of students and teachers, particularly in the K-12 segment.

Low-cost, durable and accurate, the EPOS Wired Digital Pen is rapidly being recognized as the next 'must have' school PC peripheral along with other common classroom products such as keyboards and mouse.
The EPOS Wired Digital Pen blends the traditional lesson formats of simple pen and paper with the latest technology.  Students can write freely on any paper while their handwritten notes appear on the computer screen, in one simultaneous interactive experience.

Children can practice their handwriting skills digitally, draw math problems and shapes, learn software applications, personalize instant messages and emails and share handwritten drawings and notes with classmates and teachers alike, both in class and at home when completing homework.  Intuitive, robust and practical, teachers and students do not have to worry about the pen getting lost either - the product is wired and works when connected to the computer.  Additionally, the EPOS Wired Digital Pen does not require batteries, enabling unlimited hours of writing for even the keenest of scribblers.

Teachers can leverage the product as well for a variety of education applications including; taking attendance, capturing information directly on a PC to send to administrators in real-time, grading tests faster than traditional methods and demonstrating lessons digitally.

EPOS also provides customers with a second product offering in its family of wired devices called the EPOS Wired Pen & Mouse.  In addition to the same great benefits as the traditional wired pen, this device also works as a mouse. By leveraging Windows Vista, users can turn their laptops into Tablets PCs, enjoying features such as personal note taking, email signing and pen flick navigation.

EPOS is part of the Intel-powered classmate PC Ecosystem Vendor Alliance, a network that includes hardware and software vendors, Internet service providers and content developers with the collective aim to build a comprehensive education infrastructure for teachers and students to benefit from technology in teaching and learning.

Primary School Advantages For EPOS’ Wired Digital Pen Includes:

- Assists early childhood students to learn and practice writing skills, draw and learn software applications by leveraging technology;

- Wired to prevent pen loss;

- No special paper required;

- All writing, text and sketches are viewed in real-time so improvements can be made together with the teacher;

- Ergonomic shape and design of pen promotes proper grip, therefore improving fine motor skill development;

- Personalizes the experience by enabling young students to express their individuality through their own handwriting and drawings;

- Cost-effective so device purchases for schools do not take a major bite out of already struggling budgets.

During 2008, EPOS continues to aggressively work towards bringing a family of digital pen devices to the education market, both K-12 and higher education. In addition to the EPOS Wired Digital Pen and EPOS Wired Pen and Mouse, the company recently launched its Wireless Digital Pen and USB Flash Drive product to the U.S. and European markets. The device enables higher education students to leave their laptops behind, taking notes on-the-go wherever they are including in class, library or in their dorms.
